Privacy Policy

This policy covers the Travel Now Android app (package com.travelintel.globe) and this website.

The short version

Travel Now is a client-side travel intelligence app. There are no user accounts, no sign-up, no analytics, no ads, and no tracking SDKs. All country data is bundled inside the app and works offline. We do not operate any server that receives your data.

Data stored on your device

The app stores the following on your device only — it is never uploaded anywhere:

• Favorite countries and filter preferences
• Acceptance of the in-app legal disclaimers (with date)
• Your language choice (a Google Translate cookie, only if you use translation)
• Airport tool favorites
• Temporary share-card images in the app's private cache
• A small technical error log for diagnostics — stored locally, never transmitted

Clearing the app's storage or uninstalling the app removes all of it.

Text-to-speech in the language guides is synthesized by your device's built-in Android text-to-speech engine. The spoken text is not sent to us, and we do not receive any audio.

Third-party connections

The app contacts external services only in the cases below. Whenever a service is contacted it can see your IP address, like any internet request.

• Google Translate — only if you open the language selector and pick a language (opt-in). The visible page content, including any legal-guide text you have open, is sent to Google for translation; the exchange is processed in real time and nothing from it is stored by us. Your chosen language is saved on your device only. If a translation is active, the app reconnects to Google Translate at startup to keep translating; selecting "English (Original)" stops this and clears the cookie. See Google's privacy policy.
• YouTube — only when you open a country's Video Guide and tap to confirm. Until you tap, nothing is requested from YouTube — not the video and not the thumbnails. After you confirm, videos play through YouTube's privacy-enhanced player (youtube-nocookie.com), which does not set tracking cookies until you play, and thumbnails load from img.youtube.com; at that point your IP address and the video identifiers reach Google/YouTube. Your confirmation is remembered for the current session only. Google/YouTube's own privacy policy then applies.
• Cloudflare R2 (CDN) — country background images load from our content delivery network when you open a country's intel dashboard, which exposes your IP address and user-agent to Cloudflare, Inc. as the hosting provider. No cookies are set. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Fonts, flags, maps, and all country data are bundled with the app — no other servers are contacted.

What we never do

• No accounts, sign-ups, or passwords
• No analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs
• No selling or sharing of personal data — we never receive it in the first place
• No background location access (the app requests only the Internet permission)

Legal basis (GDPR / UK GDPR)

We do not collect or hold any personal data ourselves. For the three optional, user-initiated features above, the recipients act as independent service providers:

• Google LLC (Google Translate, YouTube) — legal basis: your consent, given by the act of choosing a language or confirming video playback.
• Cloudflare, Inc. (image CDN) — legal basis: legitimate interest in delivering country images you requested by opening the dashboard.

Because each connection is triggered only by your own action and the developer receives no data, you can avoid all third-party contact simply by not using those features. You retain your GDPR rights (access, erasure, objection) — though as we hold no personal data, there is nothing on our side to access or erase.

Children

Travel Now is intended for adults (18+) and is not directed at children. Parts of the database describe country-specific laws on subjects such as cannabis; this content is informational and gated behind an in-app disclaimer.

Legal information

The wild camping and cannabis databases in the app are informational only and not legal advice. Laws change frequently — always verify locally. The in-app disclaimers you accept on first launch form part of the terms of use.

Changes to this policy

If the app ever changes what it stores or which services it contacts, this page and the in-app privacy screen will be updated and the effective date above will change.
